Debt restructuring is playing an ever-increasing role in the preservation of financial – and political – stability. Yet, no commonly agreed rules exist and each case seems to open the door to greater instability and spreading antagonism. From Argentina’s holdout creditors, to the Greek bailout, to the challenging political conditions in Ukraine, the questions of how to responsibly and sustainably manage sovereign debt restructuring are more pressing than ever.
