On this species profile episode of Aqua Alex LIVE, I am talking about one of my particular favorite species of Myleus Silver Dollars! This is the largest of the ''Black Bar Silver Dollars'' sub family. This species is known as Myleus Schomburgkii. Black Bar Silver Dollars also include another smaller species called the Thin Bar Silver Dollar which has a red hook and a small thin black line. I am going to be talking about the Wide Bar Silver Dollar! The Wide Bar Silver Dollar also known as the Emperor Blue Hook because it is one of the Myleus species to have an emperor blue anal fin aka hook! The Wide Bar Silver Dollar grows up to 14 inches and is the perfect silver dollar/pacu species for stingrays, arowanas and other large growing fish community aquariums! The Wide Bar SIlver Dollar can develop orange coloration on their cheeks and stomachs that make them look like red belly pacus and manueli piranhas.
I will start the video with some photos of my past and current Wide Bar Silver Dollars and 2 videos of my current wide bar silver dollars in their 125 gallon aquarium. I will also share some interesting did you know facts on the Wide Bar Silver Dollar and tell you how to keep and care for them in the home aquarium!
