I spoke at the Hayward Unified School District Special meeting to be held on January 5 to address forfeiture of board member's seat. I am happy with the board's decision to pass the Resolution.
Context is below from HUSD:
On December 18, 2020, HUSD provided an update to the community regarding the legal implications that arose when HUSD Trustee Dr. Luis Reynoso was elected to also serve on the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District board. The communication outlined in detail the reasons why serving on both boards presents a conflict of interest and violates the law. Board trustees decided to first allow Dr. Reynoso to resolve the matter himself by withdrawing from one of these positions. Dr. Reynoso was given a deadline of December 30, 2020 at 12pm.
Dr. Reynoso did not make the district aware of his decision by the deadline, so HUSD is required to accept the forfeiture of his seat, which took effect when he was sworn into the Chabot-Las Positas board on December 15, 2020. This also forces the district to set into motion a series of actions that are outlined as follows in the interest of full transparency.
The board held a special meeting on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 to announce the vacancy and approve the process for appointing a new board member
The process involves eligible candidates submitting their application by the proposed deadline date of January 25, 2021.
Eligible candidates will subsequently be presented publicly and interviewed at a future public meeting.
The public is invited to review the proposed board resolution that will be voted on at the January 5th meeting, the proposed timeline, and proposed application. To review the relevant board meeting materials and for details on how to join the public meeting click here: [ Ссылка ]
