During the Second World War, one of the most shocking executions that occurred was when the Fascist Dictator of Italy, Benito Mussolini was shot by the side of a road. Along with his mistress Clara Petacci, Mussolini was executed by Walter Audisio who fired the deadly shots. But following this, his body then went on a crazy journey where it was taken to Milan. It was dumped alongside other executed Fascists in the Piazalle Loreto, and then huge crowds descended to see the remains of the former dictator. However the crowd turned into a violent mob, and they threw vegetables and turned violent against the body of Mussolini, Petacci and the others.

They beat and kicked the remains, and one woman even fired 5 shots into the body. But the US Army arrived and saw what was happening, they then saw the body being strung up at a half-built service station and above the crowd the body of Mussolini and Petacci was raised. Further projectiles were thrown at them, but then following this the remains were taken to away. Benito Mussolini is known today as a man who united his country with Hitler and allied himself with the Germans during World War 2, but his death had a significant impact on Hitler. The Dictator of Germany then decided to make plans for his death as he was terrified that the same sort of behaviour would happen to him as the war was coming to an end.
