100 years ago, much of the population in the developed world toiled in difficult, labor-intensive, and exploitative jobs. Almost all jobs were manual and included working in mines, construction sites, mills, farms, lumber yards, and other laborious industries. Fast forward to a couple of decades later, and most of the workforce had moved to better jobs with better pay, leaving most of these manual jobs to machines.
