Food insecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean is a structural problem exacerbated by recent crises like climate change. Approximately 37.4% of the population in the region is food insecure, and 6.5% faces hunger (FAO, 2023). Climate change affects all dimensions of food security: availability, access, utilization, and stability.
At the IDB, we are committed to supporting the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean in achieving the Sustainable Development Goal of Zero Hunger by 2030 with evidence-based multisectoral policies that generate co-benefits of climate change adaptation and mitigation.
