In the second semi final of the day Leicester Monarchs took on the Ipswich Eagles. This was the first time this young Eagles team had got this far and they wanted to show what they could do against their much more experienced opponents. Would experience or youth triumph in this second match.
Leicester had home man Adam Stephenson leading the way, actually a Hull rider but signed on for leicester for the premier competitions.
It was also ironic that most of Leicesters big points scorers were actually from Suffolk and you have to wonder what could have been had these been riding for the Suffolk Squad. Adam Peck, Phil Howells, Jason Ashford and former Eagles man Daniel Pike would be a formidable make up of any team.
Ipswich had a youthful look about them but had some experience mixed in there aswell. Richard Williamson is a former British Champion and Ian Grange is one of the best team riders around when he is on form. Captain Leon Mower may not be the quickest starter but can pass anyone on his day and had experience on this stage before. Once in the team that pushed Leicester close at Ipswich for Great Blakenham a few years ago, along with Josh Brooke who has been hitting some bigger scores in the latter stages of the season.
Add in to this the quick starting but unpredictable Lewis Roberts, the rapid Ash Hill, never say die Jamie Chittock and the ever improving Jordan Stant, Ipswich were given a chance by some onlookers.
This is how it turned out.
