New satellite images released on Wednesday are giving a clear impression of the extent of the devastation in much of the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut.
The before and after images - taken on 8 May 2022 and 15 May 2023 - show widespread destruction of infrastructure, apartment blocks and iconic buildings.
Fighting has been particularly fierce in recent weeks around the eastern city, scene of the war's longest and bloodiest battle.
Ukrainian forces have recently clawed back more territory from Russian forces and a major Ukrainian counteroffensive is expected in coming weeks.
