He’s arguably one of the most recognizable faces at Nebraska Medicine. For the last 21 years, Clayton Ross has worked as a patient care technician in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at University Tower.
“I work with great people and I meet a lot of great people,” Ross says. “Patients are always friendly. It makes me feel good when I see someone at the grocery store and they say, ‘you took care of my mom!’”
Ross does a little bit of everything – from taking vitals to stocking supplies. But his favorite part is transporting patients in wheelchairs or beds through the hospital hallways. On average, he moves about 10-15 patients per day.
"When I first meet a patient, I get their name and tell them, 'I'm cousin Clayton. We're family now.'"
