The weather is warming up and that means getting the garden fully planted for Spring/Summer. I've been busy filling in all of the bare spots in the garden beds with rosellas, zinnias, cosmos, violas and some herbs to create nice full beds for the coming months. Adding diversity with different flowers will attract all types of pollinators that can help me out in the garden - a great permaculture principle to follow!
The recent storms we've had in Brisbane also meant that I needed to prepare for the rain, by creating compost piles around the garden. Composting in place is a great way to build nutrients in garden beds and provide food for worms to produce worm castings.
I hope you're all having a lovely time in your garden wherever you are in the world enjoying the spring (or Autumn!!) weather!

Hey there!
Welcome to my channel, The Nature Patch where I like to share all things gardening, cooking and environmental science in my Australian bushland backyard.
My name is Robyn, an environmental scientist working towards completing a PhD in understanding how people's wellbeing and their connection to nature is impacted by land use change. I've always loved gardening and nature and lately have been interested in growing my own organic food!
On this channel you'll find videos relating to garden tours, 'how to' videos, composting, soil health, ecosystem services, and seed saving.
I try to upload twice a week and I hope you enjoy!!
🤎 Filmed and edited on Jagera country. I acknowledge and pay respects to Traditional Owners of the land past, present and emerging. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
