(2 Jul 2016) At least two civilians were killed in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday when a suicide bomber on a motorbike targeted a local tribal elder, according to an Afghan official.
The deputy spokesman for the provincial governor of Nangarhar province said 11 others were wounded in the attack in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Taliban are known to be active in the province.
Abass Sadat, Nangarhar Provincial Deputy Police Chief, told The Associated Press the bombing targeted local tribal elder Hayatullah Khan, who escaped unhurt.
