Berkeley Lab Director Paul Alivisatos accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge issued by Oak Ridge National Laboratory, complete with a dousing by astrophysicist and Nobelist Saul Perlmutter, and biologist Mina Bissell, using water from the San Francisco Bay.
Paul challenged the former director of Berkeley Lab and former Secretary of Energy Steven Chu (now Professor of Physics and Molecular & Cellular Physiology at Stanford University), Alan Leshner, CEO the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and John Holdren, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, to do the same!
