The Chinese state-owned drug maker Sinopharm has been ramping up mass production of its Covid-19 vaccines, according to state media reports. The Sinopharm jab is China’s first home-grown vaccine against the coronavirus. On December 31, 2020, Beijing approved its use on members of the general public as officials promised to provide the jabs to people in China for free. The country aims to inoculate 50 million people before an expected travel rush ahead of the Lunar New Year in mid-February.
