And so Steam Dreams weekly summer program of 3 shuttles to Windsor every Tuesday came to an end, with 61306 Mayflower hauling the final week.
Having missed the penultimate week last week due to myself being in Scotland, the "beginning of the end" is seen at the starting point, London Waterloo. Following close ups Mayflower hauls her train out of Waterloo, with a Class 33 at the rear which appears to have had a nice paint job!
I was hoping to then catch Shuttle 1 at Brentford, but for some reason Mayflower was put ahead of my 8 minute late service train just before South Acton Jn, so instead we jump to Hounslow and Queenstown Road for the first ECS. I then caught Shuttle 2 at Brentford, which inbetween this, the crew had stuck an extra headboard on. Brentford is usally a good spot for performance, but with a speed restriction in place, this wasn't the case.
Shuttle 3 is then seen at Barnes with Mayflower on the wrong line and therefore slowing before being given a green across the tracks to Barnes Bridge. This run ended up running nearly 20 minutes early after this, having been given a clear run and put straight through Feltham, so chasing this elsewhere was not possible. Finally, returning to Brentford, we catch the last Windsor ECS.
After this, I then took a ride onboard the final Sunset Steam Express, which resulted in a very nice night out behind the B1!
And so brings an end to The Royal Windsor Steam Express, but with booking already available for 2020, it looks like we are promised for much more of this next year!
