Svetlana Khorkina is a Russian gymnastics legend who amassed an incredible cache of World, Olympic, and European medals throughout her decade-long senior career. Her grand total is second only to Simone Biles in the sport's history.

In this video, we explore Khorkina's achievements and her polarizing personality, which put off many despite her impressive skills and innovative techniques. Khorkina and her childhood coach Boris Pilkin took the Soviet school of gymnastics seriously and never missed an opportunity to leave their mark on women's artistic gymnastics. Upon her retirement after the 2004 Athens Olympics, Svetlana had eight eponymous skills in the Code of Points, making her the only woman in history to achieve this feat on all four events.

However, two years later, that number would be cut in half, and we attempt to answer the question: Why did this happen? We take a look at the possible influence of another legend of the Soviet school in this intriguing video about the legacy of Svetlana Khorkina.
