Throughout his career, pianist and vocalist Davell Crawford has been raised in front of public eye both in New Orleans as well as overseas. Hailed as the "PIano Prince of New Orleans," Crawford is one of the few piano greats that is carrying out the great jazz lineage of Professor Longhair and James Booker of the stride piano legacy they've been known for.
Davell's latest CD, "My Gift To You," is his first CD he's recorded in 14 years and features a myriad of great special guests ranging from Bobbi Humphrey, Dr. John, Nicholas Payton, Walter "Woflman" Washington, and Donald Harrison. This recording he's paying homage to the rich legacy of New Orleans music and the musicians that have paved the way for him over the course of his career.
Throughout his career he's been busy with his organ trio, the Davell Crawford Singers, and his solo career.
Davell is the Billy Preston and Ray Charles of this generation and is a major force in the business right now in that he's the only one playing soul music with the rich authenticity past greats.
