Hyundai Motor Company has officially introduced the IONIQ 9, a spacious, three-row all-electric SUV that combines sleek design with advanced electric vehicle (EV) technology.

The IONIQ 9 is built on Hyundai Motor's advanced E-GMP platform, which includes an upgraded powertrain system. This system features an optimized gear ratio for better hill-climbing performance and a two-stage inverter to boost overall efficiency.

The IONIQ 9’s striking exterior design, called ‘Aerosthetic,’ showcases Hyundai Motor’s dedication to combining cutting-edge aerodynamics with sophisticated, futuristic styling. The front of the vehicle is highlighted by Parametric Pixels integrated into the LED light units and lower fascia, giving the car a unique and refined appearance.

The SUV's silhouette features a smooth, curved roofline that contributes to its streamlined aerodynamic profile, achieving an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.259 Cd when equipped with digital side mirrors.

To further enhance energy efficiency, the IONIQ 9 uses a range of aerodynamic features, including a new dual-motion active air flap (AAF) system, which is being introduced for the first time. The car also benefits from a 3D-shaped underbody cover, aerodynamically designed wheels, and hidden antennas, all of which help optimize airflow and reduce wheel and tire resistance.

With the longest wheelbase of any Hyundai model at 3,130 mm, the IONIQ 9 offers a spacious cabin and grand proportions. The body’s bold volume, along with carefully crafted accents, adds depth and character. The flowing rear wheel arch character line emphasizes the vehicle’s unique design and dynamic form.

The rear design continues the theme of seamless integration, with a boat-tail-inspired shape that enhances both the vehicle’s aesthetic and its aerodynamic performance. The sleek roofline and rising lower line create a sense of balance and give the IONIQ 9 a dynamic, forward-moving look.

The IONIQ 9 boasts a strong, confident presence, enhanced by a variety of wheel options. These include standard 19-inch wheels, along with 20-inch and 21-inch choices, culminating in the premium 21-inch Calligraphy design, offering buyers additional customization possibilities.

The SUV is powered by a 110.3 kWh battery that provides an impressive electric range of up to 620 km on a single charge for the Long-Range RWD model, with energy efficiency of 194 Wh/km. It can charge from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes using a 350 kW charger, making long trips more convenient. Additionally, the IONIQ 9 includes a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature, which allows you to power devices from the car, and supports both 400V and 800V charging for faster refueling.

The IONIQ 9 comes in multiple powertrain configurations. The Long-Range RWD model uses a 160 kW rear motor, while the Long-Range AWD version adds a 70 kW front motor for extra power. The high-performance AWD model features two 160 kW motors.

In terms of speed, the Performance model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, while the Long-Range AWD takes 6.7 seconds and the RWD version 9.4 seconds. For overtaking, the Performance model is quickest, going from 80 to 120 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. The AWD and RWD models take 4.8 and 6.8 seconds, respectively.

The IONIQ 9 offers exceptional interior space, providing generous room in both the second and third rows for an elevated passenger experience. Its interior design features soft, elliptical shapes and soothing color tones, creating a lounge-like ambiance that feels both calming and natural—especially with natural light streaming in through the Panoramic Sunroof.

The vehicle’s flat floor allows for flexible seating arrangements, accommodating either six or seven occupants. For added comfort, the Relaxation Seats in the first and second rows can fully recline and include a leg rest, offering a perfect space to relax. This feature allows up to four people to rest comfortably while the vehicle is charging, depending on the configuration.

With 1,899 mm of headroom and 2,050 mm of legroom in the second and third rows combined, the IONIQ 9 provides ample space for all passengers to enjoy long journeys in comfort.

IONIQ 9’s infotainment system includes a 12-inch cluster and a 12-inch integrated monitor as part of the panoramic curved display[22]. The standard in-car audio setup features an eight-speaker sound system, with the option of a premium BOSE 14-speaker stereo, which supports 5.1-channel surround sound, wireless updates and advanced BOSE features. It also incorporates e-Active Sound Design (e-ASD), which outputs the virtual driving sound of an EV using the vehicle’s audio system.
