In this scene I've use 2 blend files. One was a top down height map to be used as a displacement layer on the fluid sim. The second was for the rest. I used 3 view layers in order to be able to mask the fluid sim in compositing. Layer 1 was for the ocean and the back ground with the second be Suzanne and the fluid sim. The third was a copy on the second but I used the Cryptomatte node in comp to make it a mask (Hindsight, I didn't need the third layer). The mask was blurred using the normal blur node in comp.
It's not perfect as the Suzanna is a little too big for the domain so the waves reach the mask edge which gives it away. Apart from that, I think it looks quite good.
