This video gives a quick look at electrification progress in the South Wales Valley Lines.
All the physical work needed for electrification has been completed and the overhead wires have been energised. Crew traing is taking place with Stadler tri-mode units of Class 756 but there was no evidence that the Stadler tram-trains (Class 398) were being used for driver training.
The newly laid track is superb. Line speed has been raised from 35-40 mph to 50 or even 60 mph and the ride quality is excellent. Trains were very well used on my visit.
