Ken Cowan is one of the most brilliant organist in the world - and a super nice guy. Ken plays fiendishly hard music - at a level of perfection matched by few others and makes it look easy!
Ken Cowan had stopped in Brooklyn, New York at Our Lady of Refuge to record: Liszt's of Variations on Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen; Seth Bingham's Roulade; George Thalben-Ball's Variations on a theme of Paganini and Reger's Hallelujah Gott zu Loben.
Late the first night Ken needed a break. So after a bit of good hearted kidding he tried out: Liszt's Mephisto Waltz and Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries. No music, no preparation, just sat and played! The camera had not been turned off - and Ken allowed some of his impromptu playing to be published.
Ken Cowan is Associate Professor and head of the organ program at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music in Houston, Texas and is represented for concert by Karen McFarlane Artists: [ Ссылка ]
