How To Identify Male And Female Serpae Tetras
Breeding, as with most other tetras, can be difficult due to the few obvious differences between the genders.
1.Size
Males are generally similar and smaller than females.
2.Body Color
Males Serpae Tetras are more brightly vivid red color. Females tend to be a dull red color, even when not spawning.
3.Boby Shape
During the mating process female serape tetras tend to become much fuller than males.
4.Fin Shape
In male serape, the dorsal fin is fully black. In females, the dorsal fin is paler.
NOTE : Also a visible difference, within the shape of the swim bladder may be seen above and at the back of the silverish abdominal cavity.
