Californian Griffin Colapinto showed up to El Salvador with one goal: to win the World Surf League WSL El Salvador Punta Roca Surf City Pro presented by Corona. This video documents his freesurf sessions leading up to the big event, which did indeed reign supreme for the coveted first place trophy and winner's check of $80,000! Grif took an aggressive and progressive approach to claim his second tour victory of the year, attacking the lip and boosting like a NASA rocket. His final against ratings leader Filipe Toledo was legendary, with the form Brazilian looking unbeatable throughout the event. In the end it was the freesurf sessions that made the difference. Griffin free surfed Punta Roca every day leading up to the event while Toledo's freesurfs were at surrounding breaks. Grif's familiarity with the lineup was apparent in his dominiant victories over not onlt Toledo, but multiple world champ Gabriel Medina as well, who was lining up too far up the point.
