Easy Tajweed - the long ghunnah - ikhfa shafawi & qalb - Sh. Abdullah Khadra
Summary with video segments by Br. Adnan Shafi (may Allah reward him)
Summary & Timeline
Gunnah is a nasal sound and has no relation to the mouth. Gunnah can be tested by pressing the nose.
00:00 - 1:18 Intro
01:18 - Three cases when long sunnah is applied (1. Ikhfa (explained in separate video) 2. Ikhfaa shafawee 3. Qalb)
Ikhfa means hiding. In tajweed it is somewhat between izhar and idghaam
01:50 - 5:10 Case 2 - Ikhfaa shafawee (Meem sakinah followed by a baa)
5:10 - 7:38 Common Mistakes (1. leaving a gap between lips 2. Pressing too much on the lips.) Correct way is to close the lips gently with no gaps. Do it being as normal as possible. Meem would be in green in the tajweed mushaf.
7:38- 11:07 Case 3 - QALB. Noon sakinah or tanween followed by baa. Qalb means to change. We change noon sakinah or tanween into Meem at the baa. In tajweed mushaf, such a noon has grey color and there is a tiny meem on top.
Note that apply qalb reduces the result to same as that seen with ikhfaa shafawee
