James Kalm began seeing the work of Amy Hill over ten years ago. At the time much of the work was masterfully detailed portraits of biker types and heavy metal aficionados. Since then, Hill has increased the size and complexity of the pictures, and added elements of subtle narrative. Her conflation of Medieval references and modern Pop props, creates a telescoping time frame that elucidates the classical within the quotidian.
