Adwaita Mallabarman was a Bangladeshi writer and novelist who was born on January 1, 1914, in Barisal, Bangladesh (then part of British India) and died on February 14, 1951. He is best known for his novel "Amar Meyebela" ("My Girlhood"), which was published in 1948 and is considered a classic of Bengali literature. The novel tells the story of a young girl named Moyna who grows up in a rural village in East Bengal and experiences the joys and struggles of life in a patriarchal society.
Adwaita Mallabarman was also a noted playwright and his plays, such as "Harbart" and "Boma", are still performed in Bengali theater. He was a member of the Indian People's Theatre Association and was associated with the leftist cultural movement in Bengal during the 1940s.
Adwaita Mallabarman died at a young age of 37 due to tuberculosis, but his work continues to be celebrated in Bangladesh and beyond.
