(7 Oct 2013) Britain's Prince Harry attended a fundraiser in Dubai on Monday evening in support of the Sentebale charity he co-founded with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.
Sentebale aims to support children living with HIV/AIDS in the impoverished landlocked Kingdom of Lesotho in Southern Africa.
The prince attended a dinner and charity auction, which raised more than a million US dollars to help build Sentebale's Mamohato Children's Centre of Excellence in Lesotho.
The prince told guests that the funds raised by the charity auction would not disappear into a "box" but were destined for a vital project.
The centre will allow the charity to build on its Mamohato programme, which helps with the emotional and psychological needs of children living with HIV.
During the evening items including rare Islamic gold and silver coins and a polo weekend were auctioned to raise funds.
The prince even managed a few words in Arabic to wish Dubai luck in its bid for the 2020 World Expo.
Harry left Dubai for the UK soon after the dinner after spending the weekend on a whistle-stop tour of Australia.
