Hi everyone. Aidan here, with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at, and showing you how to install the Konig XD 16 Pro Tire Chains on our 2022 Ford F-150. The first thing you wanna do with these chains once you get 'em out of the bag is lay 'em out and make sure nothing's tangled up. A lot of times when they're first out of the bag these have a tendency to be all tangled up in each other or with each other in the pair, but these ones are looking good right now and we wanna make sure our cable that's coded is towards the back and we have identified this opening in between the two sections of chain. This is where our tire's gonna sit.
Once all that's set, we can grab the tire chain and I'm gonna just feed it back behind the tire like this, trying to keep everything together, and we'll see it poking out the other side there and we can pull it to the front making sure that open section that we had before is wrapped around the tire. That was pretty good right there. And we can grab these two sections of cable and bring it up together in the wheel well where we'll attach this stud to this catch right here, and then dr-drape the chain over the tire, keeping our hand on it until we make a connection in the front, this red link with this red hook to make sure it doesn't fall down. Then we can push this back behind the tire, and get everything centered up. This cross section of chain right here is a great guide to figure out if we're centered up or not.
You can see this needs to get pushed back a bit more still and right about there is looking pretty good. There we go. Once that's done, we can come to the bottom and we've got our red catch right there and our built in tensioner. I'm gonna feed the tensioner through the catch, and pull it tight. You'll hear this one start to click as it gets tighter.
I'm gonna get it pretty much as tight as I can, and then feed it through these red hooks. Now this one is kind of flipped right now, so I'm actually going to flip it around myself. There we go. Feed the chain in there and then pull it across to the other side to apply tension. Might be a little tough to get it hooked on but that's a good thing for the overall tension of our tire chains.
Right there. And that is looking pretty good. At this point, I always recommend driving over them a few times after you have both sides installed. Check in on them and just making sure that nothing has come loose or settled in too much. If it has make any adjustments you might need to do and then you're ready to go. I like that it has the built in tensioner because that means you don't need to pick up one of these separately. These rubber tensioners, we often recommend them for other people with the ladder pattern style chains but it's nice that we don't need to think about that with this. It's just built right into the tire chain. It is a D link for a square link here so you can see that's gonna give us a little more bite into the snow. The links aren't huge so it is gonna result in a slightly smoother ride quality and when you pair that up with the diamond pattern that's gonna give us more contact on the road and result in a smoother ride as well. You will definitely feel it but this will give you good traction and help with turns. It is a manganese nickel alloy steel that will help with rust and corrosion over time, so it's good to know that these should last through multiple seasons. And then one of the nicer things about this is that it does come with a nicer carrying case. A lot of the other chains will come in just canvas bags that have a tendency to rip over time. This one should hold up a lot better. I'd still maybe recommend a plastic tote just because those are gonna be water resistant and just hold up even more over time. If you need something more aggressive something that's really gonna bite into ice, maybe check out some V Bar style chains or just larger link sizes. Otherwise, if you just need something to get you through the snow, I think it's gonna be a great option and it's gonna be easier to install too. Thanks for watching..
