"In a world that grows more interconnected each day, the classroom remains one of the most powerful spaces for nurturing identity and fostering student voice. This TEDx explores the potential of multicultural children’s literature to transform classrooms into spaces of inclusion. Genevie, an educator and scholar, advocates passionately for the use of culturally diverse literature in all classrooms, not just as a means of representation but as a tool to empower students to celebrate who they are and where they come from.
Through vivid stories and research-based insights, the talk highlights how multicultural books can help children of all backgrounds see themselves reflected in positive and empowering ways. Just as importantly, it shows how these stories can cultivate empathy and awareness among peers, and ultimately build a more inclusive community within and beyond school walls. This talk champions multicultural children’s literature as a tool to build bridges, celebrate diversity, and inspire every child to stand tall in their own story." Genevie C.
