President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to highlight the Philippines’ top economic performance before global leaders and chief executive officers as he participates in the 53rd Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The Chief Executive, together with First Lady Atty. Louise Araneta Marcos and the rest of the Philippine delegation composed of the Administration’s economic team and business leaders, departs from Villamor Air Base in Pasay City on 15 January 2023.
President Marcos Jr. is one of two leaders from Asia who will attend the World Economic Forum – the premier forum for world and business leaders to get together, to interact and come up with ideas and plans to address the many challenges and opportunities facing our global economy – according to Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Carlos Sorreta in a recent press briefing.
This year’s World Economic Forum carries the theme, ‘Cooperation in a Fragmented World’, which aims to reaffirm the value and imperative of dialogue and public-private cooperation in navigating the current cascading crises, and to drive tangible, system-positive change for the long term.
The Philippines is presented with an opportunity to forward its priorities on food and energy security, digitalization, climate action, attracting investments and promoting beneficial trade addressing inequality, providing accessible social services, partner with other nations, businesses, civil society and other stakeholders, as well as collaborate with the World Economic Forum on several of its initiatives.
