I am showing in this video how I listen to shortwave signals & DX outdoors in the field. All you need is a portable radio, some longwire & a camera to record your catches. The internal telescopic antenna can also work really well for reception if you don't have some longwire to spare.
The adaptor I am using to connect to the radio is a " 3.5mm Mono (M) to Coaxial (F) Adapter" which can be bought cheap on Ebay.
100 metres of longwire cost me around £10, convert to your local currency.
