The Lake Erie & Eastern: the class I that never was. Spanning from Boston to Chicago and Cincinnati, via Akron, Pittsburgh, and up-state New York, the LE&E's fictional rails hit almost every major city in the northeast.
Take a ride into a fictional past, along the rails of this high speed trunk line in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan during steam's last hurrah in the 1940's. Sleek streamliners are caught in transition, some still carrying heavyweight head end and unstreamlined steam power. A variety of first generation diesels begin to take the reigns in passenger and freight service: Baldwin, Alco, Lima, and Fairbanks Morse products work in tandem to provide fast, efficient service.
Finally, a bit of the Charleston, Asheville & Louisville Railway cameos in Cincinnati, another sprawling fictional in its own right.
So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride on the Deco Route.
