Here are three reasons why this may 𝗻𝗼𝘁 be helping you keep your blood sugar in check 👇
1. Carb counting may be encouraging you to “save” your carbs for a special meal. When you do that you could 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝘀 all at once in order to have treats. Remember, when your blood sugar goes up, it must come down.
2. If you’re taking medications to regulate blood sugar, the peak of 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴. In this case, the meds are not effective and you may end up eating too many carbs when the meds’ therapeutic levels are not at their peak.
3. Carb counting teaches you that all that matters is the carbs, when in reality eating a diet high in 𝗳𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿, 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝘁𝘀 would provide you with more balanced blood sugar levels. 🙌
