Hit Report
Date: 26th December 2024 [BOXING DAY]
Lawbreakers: Braes of Derwent & South Durham Hunt
Location : Lanchester & Bishopton
We had a canny team today—two cars packed full of sabs, A newbie, and a sab from North London Hunt Saboteurs,.
Hunt 1: Braes of Derwent – Lanchester
We arrived in Lanchester bright and early. It was eerily quiet, like a village from Midsomer Murders. While we waited, some lovely locals came over to tell us how much they despised the hunt. That’s what we like to hear—solidarity! While tucking into our Vegan Brownies… watching... waiting… at 10:20 a horse box was spotted so we followed, only to find a very small gathering including the hound trailer, parked up in a layby just outside of the Village on the B6296. So we parked our bums right next to them and observed.
At 10:45, they decided to spice things up by trotting into the village for a photo op outside Crinnions, a small family-run restaurant. (One for the “do not visit” list, folks.) On the way, we noticed the Kings Head Pub—who usually hosts their Boxing Day bash—had blocked off its car park. ‘Good on ya :-)’.
The turnout was Pitiful. About 20 riders, mostly pony club, a couple of old-timers, and the stars of the show: Sandy and Eyeliner Ian.
Alcohol and food flowed, hounds posed, and we tried not to throw up.
At 11:10, they clomped onto the A691, causing a right kerfuffle with traffic. Then, they meandered into a field towards Greencroft for about an hour. Then out of the blue Sandy loaded the hounds into the trailer and buggered off back to the Kennels, leaving Eyeliner Ian to lead the Pony Club.
After a slow trot about stoney heap & Iveston they Packed up. At 1:30!!!
Seriously would you pay £50 for a 2 and a bit hour trot ?
Hunt 2: South Durham – Bishopton
After a quick refuel (vegan pasties, obviously), we landed at West Newbiggin Farm around 2:30 p.m. Joined by our fabulous comrades, Teesside Anti Blood Sports - TABS, we found South Durham Hunt already up to no good, with hounds in and out of cry in Square Woods and Catkill Lane.
Our second car was tailed for five miles by a group of masked numpties. Then at 3pm for 15 mins we had the displeasure of company from the same 5 scummy little twits, trying to act like big hard men, haha nice try kiddies!, Aaron Wilkinson, not going to say much about this one, as I don’t want to make him famous…
But Aaron - Homophobia ??? I’ll leave it there…for now.
Sabs at this point were still in the woods, the footpaths were churned up so much by the idiots on horses that it was hard to walk on, so for a moment our guys had no choice but to find a safe way around. When Mark Dent from 'Newton Ketton Farm' appeared and intentionally & deliberately assaulted one of our sabs. There are 5 witnesses to this unprovoked attack and there is also very clear video footage, which clearly shows Dent as the instigator. One word of advice to Mark Dent… Trespassing is civil, ‘as our sab clearly advised you before you launched at him’. Therefore ‘reasonable’ force can only be used to remove anyone who you deem to be trespassing.
Mark Dent is now playing the victim! boo hoo
We called the police, showed them the video evidence (clear as day, by the way), no arrests were made.
Massive thanks to all of our supporters; you’re the best !
