With our home-compostable organic waste bags you benefit from the following advantages:
- 100 % home-compostable and biodegradable on your own compost
- OK compost HOME certified degradability (at 20 - 30 °C ambient temperature), regularly tested and confirmed by TÜV Austria
- made with renewable raw materials (corn starch, rejects)
- free from plasticizers, polyethylene and genetically modified substances
- available in different sizes (6-8 / 10 / 20 / 30 liters)
- quality and safety that have been tried and tested a million times
- if there is sufficient ventilation, they reduce moisture and thus the formation of mold and unpleasant smells
- pleasant feel, excellent perforation
- tear-proof and moisture-proof
- banderole made of FSC certified material
- simple and hygienic organic waste collection increases convenience and increases the amount of organic waste
Home-compostable organic waste bags from The Sustainable People are ideal for compostable waste from the kitchen and garden. For example: fruit and vegetable residues, tea and coffee grounds, nut and eggshells, garden and plant waste. TSP home-compostable garbage bags are 100 % biodegradable and compostable according to EN 13432 and can therefore, if officially approved, be put directly in the organic waste bin.
In addition, TSP organic waste bags are „OK compost HOME“ certified and can therefore be composted at home. They also rot on the domestic compost without leaving any pollutants behind. The quality of the resulting compost is guaranteed. All OK compost HOME certified materials comply with EN 13432, but biodegradation is also tested under home compost conditions at 20 - 30 °C. At least 90 % of the material must be degraded within 12 months. Our TSP bioplastic has also achieved the OK compost HOME certification from TÜV Austria in a thickness of more than 60 µm. Biodegradable garbage bags from The Sustainable People have a thickness of 18 µm, i.e. less than a third of that. This means that degradation takes place in a fraction of the estimated time.
TSP home compostable garbage bags don't just disintegrate, they are actively broken down via enzymes and microorganisms. The speed of degradation basically depends on the environmental factors. As with other organic materials, for example a leaf or an apple, the time it takes to break down depends on factors such as moisture, heat, solar radiation and, above all, the presence of microorganisms. Depending on the season as well as the type, composition and quality of the compost and the composter used (open garden composter, thermo, worm box, etc.), the time required for degradation therefore varies.
In general, the benefit of using biodegradable organic waste bags is primarily an increased amount of bio-waste, as there is increased convenience for consumers through the joint disposal of bio-waste bags and bio-waste (hygienic and simple). At the same time, the use of biodegradable garbage bags can reduce the amount of biowaste in residual waste, so that the potential for valuable biowaste can be better exploited overall.
The bioplastic we use has been tried and tested over a million times. It is even possible to transport water with it and at most a thin film of sweat should form, as the bag is breathable. With particularly favorable degradation conditions (microorganisms already present in the bucket, composition of the organic waste, installation location, etc.) and a long period of time in the garbage bin, the excellent degradability of the material can lead to degradation already beginning in the bucket and resulting in liquid escaping. We use our compostable garbage bags both in the office and at home and have no problems with it even after 5 or 6 days. Nevertheless, the degradation is a biological process, the speed of which varies. To be on the safe side, we therefore recommend changing the organic waste bag regularly, preferably every 3-4 days. This also helps to prevent fruit fly infestation. We would like to give you the following tips to avoid unpleasant surprises:
- allow hot waste such as coffee or tea filters to cool and drain before filling
- do not fill in any liquids and protect the bag from direct sunlight during storage
- provide adequate ventilation
- change the organic garbage bag regularly (preferably every 3-4 days)
