2015 Community-Based Forest Management – National Greening Program (CBFM-NGP) Congress
World Trade Center, Pasay City
28 October 2015
President Benigno S. Aquino III attended the 2015 Community-Based Forest Management – National Greening Program (CBFM-NGP) Congress held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
The congress is a venue for some 2,000 CBFM-NGP beneficiaries, practitioners and advocates from different People’s Organizations (POs), Civil Service Organizations (CSOs), Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), private sector, and the government through the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to share their best practices in the implementation of CBF-NGP across the country.
NGP is a massive forest rehabilitation program of the government established by virtue of Executive Order No. 26 issued on 24 February 2011 by President Aquino. It seeks to grow 1.5 billion trees in 1.5 million hectares of land nationwide within six years, between 2011 to 2016. This program is backed by the CBFM which states that by addressing the needs of local communities, its people would be more willing to protect and manage the forests which is the very source of their livelihood.
In his speech, President Aquino recognized the contribution of CBFM-NGP POs and their partners in managing, protecting, and sustaining the use of natural resources.
