Latehar, Aug 28 (ANI): Police recovered 50 Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) from a stronghold of Maoist rebels in Jharkhand. The recoveries were made from the jungles of Hesatu village in Latehar district during a search operation that was conducted based on a tip off. Senior police officials said that the explosives weighed 1-1.5 kilograms and were made to target police personnel. Superintendent of Police, Anup Birthare said the explosives were blasted after the recovery. Birthare added the search operations against the Maoist rebels were intensified after the recovery. The Maoists, also known as 'Naxals' in India, seek the violent overthrow of the Indian state and have fought authorities for decades, particularly in rural areas of central and eastern India where they enjoy some support.
