Brydge Pro + Review: [ Ссылка ]
At MREH, Monty and I base our reviews on actual usage. We didn’t get these products for free, we paid for them ourselves because we’re actual reviewers. Not influencers.
I honestly don’t care which product you get, I only care that you get the best information before making your purchasing decision.
If you need ALL the info about each product, check out my extremely detailed reviews for the Byrdge Pro+ and the Apple Magic Keyboard for the iPad.
Difference #1
You need to keep track of another device’s battery. The Brydge Pro+’s battery is suppose to last 3 months on 2 hours of daily usage.
Unlike the non-trackpad Brydge Pro, you can easily check the battery status in the battery widget on your Today view.
Now this isn’t a big deal breaker since you can charge the Brydge Pro+ using the iPad Pro in a pinch, as long as you have a USB Cable.
The Magic Keyboard is powered by the iPad. And has the nifty plug in the hinge area.
Difference #2
The trackpad on the Magic Keyboard is MILES ahead of the keyboard of the Brydge Pro+. If you’re an Apple Trackpad user, you’ll feel right at home with Magic Keyboard for the iPad.
If you’re an Apple Trackpad user and you get the Brydge Pro+, you’re going to hate your iPad.
On a basic level, the trackpad on the Brydge Pro+ is slower and less responsive. It’s going to struggle to register anything more than a simple click.
The Pro+ is missing all the wonderful gestures you get with an Apple trackpad. If you need to see all the gestures that you can use on the Apple Trackpad and not the Byrdge Pro+, check out that video.
Difference #3
There are no shortcut keys on the Magic Keyboard. And I’ll be honest with you, having an actual home button on the Brydge Pro+ is handy (because three finger swipe up doesn’t work).
And it’s this row of shortcut keys that might make your iPad feel like a laptop.
Some of the buttons aren’t that useful on a daily basis, like the BT button and keyboard language button but you could remap them if you really wanted to.
I can’t stand the keyboard language button so now that button is App Expose.
Difference #4
The Magic Keyboard has a better keyboard. Both products have full sized keyboards BUT the buttons on the Brydge Pro+ are smaller and harder to press.
The buttons on the Brydge Pro+ are 15.5mm whereas the Magic Keyboard is a full mm bigger. Bigger keys means better accuracy from my perspective.
The buttons on the Brydge Pro+ are harder to press. It takes just a bit more effort to register a keystroke which, in the long run may not be an issue as you just become acclimatized to having to mash the buttons harder.
BUT at the end of the day, having smaller keys that are harder to press makes my typing experience noticeably worse on the Brydge Pro+.
As a side note, I haven’t come across an iPad Keyboard that has the button-feel like the Apple Magic Keyboard and I’ve used a few keyboards for the iPad. Check out that playlist for all those reviews.
Different #5
The last difference deals with using the product like a laptop. The Brydge Pro+ makes your iPad look like a laptop.
The Magic Keyboard makes the iPad look like a mini iMac.
What works better between the two? The mini iMac because it doesn’t feel like my iPad is constantly going to tip over. I think.
The Byrdge Pro+ weights slightly less than the iPad Pro so it’s always going to tip more to the iPad side than the keyboard size.
BUT the space beside the trackpad is larger on the Brydge Pro+ so you’ll have an easier time clamping the keyboard down on your lap.
