Synology Create A New User In DiskStation Manage (DSM)
To get started login to the main Synology Diskstation and then click the Control Panel button.
Now select 'User and Group' and then the Create button at the top.
Enter the name you want to call the new user and then create a secure random password. This password needs to be at least 6 characters long and not contain the username you selected. Click the Next button once happy.
You can now select the groups you'd like the new user to be a part of. For this example we'll just leave it as the default.
Now you can select the shared folders they have access to and what permissions they have for each.
On this screen you can set any quotas for the new user.
Now you can also select what applications the user has access to.
This screen allows you to set any speed limits.
And this final screen allows you to review the settings you've just selected.
Click the Done button to create the new user.
And there you have it! Your new user is now created. Easy.
