2 nights wild camping in the Sheeffry Hills in Mayo on a trip of 42 km with 1,800m of ascent. Starting in the stunning location of Doo Lough and climbing to traverse 7 tops west to east before dropping down along the Western Way to explore 3 corrie loughs on the northern side of the hills. The weather wasn't too kind as I was lost in low cloud for the hiking up high, though that brought its own sense of being present and mindful. My first wild camp was on the summit of Barraclashcame NW Top at 580m, bringing a mixed night of clear sky and then wind and rain. I had never walked the corrie loughs to the north so this was great exploring and my second wild camp on the shores of Lugaloughaun was the highlight of the trip. A steep climb up the corrie surrounding Lough Brawn had me back on the high Sheeffry's, returning to 4 of the previously climbed tops before the descent to Doo Lough. A fantastic few days in Mayo, only seeing 2 other people over the 3 days.
