About Sambalpur
The District of Sambalpur has a history full of events including Indian freedom struggle representing the different section of the society. Sambalpur is mentioned in the book of Ptomely as Sambalaka on the river Manada. Sambalpur District was subsequently divided into four separate Districts. Bargarh District was separated in 1993, and Jharsuguda and Deogarh Districts were separated in 1994.
The District experiences many beautiful festivals round the year. Sital Sasthi is observed in the month of June. This festival is the marriage ceremony of Lord Shiva and Parvati. Nuakhai is the most important social festival of the District. Bhaijiuntia festival is celebrated on the Mahastami Day of Durga Puja.

1} Samaleswari Temple
Shree Shree Samaleswari, the presiding deity of Sambalpur, is a strong religious force in western part of Orissa and Chhattisgarh state of India.
2} Deer Park
The Deer Park is a public park and zoo located in the heart of the Sambalpur city and spread across an area of 13.16 hectare.
The Deer Park was established in 1980. It is a well-maintained zoo which has about 100 - 150 deer, Chowsingha, Sambhar, Barking Deer, Wild Boar, Sloth Bear, leopard, fox, monkey, civet cat, python, four horned antelopes, parakeet, moorhen, duck, spotted dove, reptiles and numerous birds, around 20 species. Deer Park can be visited during timings 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM.
3} Budharaja Hill top
Budharaja is a small hillock in Sambalpur, Odisha, India. There is a Shiva temple situated on the top of hill and middle of the sambalpur city.[1] A concrete road goes to the temple from the base. The locality on the eastern side of the hillock is known as Budharaja due to its proximity to the hillock.[2] Currently a Watch Tower is under construction to increase tourism.
4} Hirakud Dam
Only 15 kms. north of Sambalpur, the longest earthen dam of the world stands in its lone majesty across the great river Mahanadi. A twenty-one Kilometres drive on the dyke offers a unique experience of calm serenity and majesty of nature.
5} Ghanteswari Temple
Maa Ghanteswari Temple is one of the most holiest and beautiful place in Sambalpur. This Temple is located at 33 kms south-west of Sambalpur and on the bank of river Mahanadi.

6} City Centre Mall
One of the mall in City with movie theatre & food court, the mall has good foot fall as it serve all major needs. It has the only multiplex cinema Hall & is well made & maintain. Food court serve great food & is very pocket friendly. Great place to visit with family & friends for great outing
7} Huma, the Leaning Temple of Lord Shiva
A village in the Sambalpur Subdivision, situated on the left bank of the Mahanadi, 23 kms. south of Sambalpur. A great fair takes place at the foothill in March every year on the occasion of Sivratri.
