The topic of this video is: What Out-Of-Pocket Expenses Will I Have With Your Plan?
Here is some of what is discussed in this video:
Charlie: This is always a bugaboo: out of pocket expenses. It seems to me that if I have insurance from a vision care insurer that I should know what my benefits are before I walk into the doctor. Don't you think that's the first step for somebody, so that they can avoid some of these out of pocket expenses?
Daniel: Right. An educated consumer is always better. Hopefully they do a little bit of research on their own plan, know what their allowances are, and then possibly have treated afterwards. Even if they don't, the dialogue with the doctor, the doctor should typically fill them in.
I recommend people pick out a few options and say, "I like this, this, and this. Is it covered in full by my plan? If not, how much would I have to pay?"
Those options are sometimes something I feel is overlooked, again no pun intended. People get focused on cost and they're not necessarily thinking about if their employee is paying a lot at the point of service.
Charlie: I know for me, I've had these glasses for a few years, which is kind of unusual. I guess my health is doing pretty well if my eyes haven't changed. If they weren't good quality, they wouldn't have lasted. The lenses wouldn't have done well, they would be all scratched up. I take care of them, but that is important.
Daniel: Again, you want a quality product. You don't want to have to go back and forth to the doctor four times to get it straightened out either.
Charlie: Very true.
Daniel: If the prescription is off just a hair or the lens quality
wasn't good, if there's any mess up people notice right away.
