After talks with Fidel Castro in Rome on Monday (18/11), Italian foreign
minister Lamberto Dini said the Cuban president had remained "open to dialogue" despite defending his country non-democratic system. The Italian foreign minister said they had discussed the possibility of going ahead with the preparation in 1997 of a cooperation and commercial agreement between Cuba and the European Union.
