Surgery is a major, potentially life-changing event that can drastically improve a patient’s quality of life. At the Montreal General Hospital alone, 10,000 patients underwent surgery every year pre-pandemic. And of course, the number of people needing surgery is on the rise. Annie DeMelt interviews Dr. Liane Feldman, Surgeon-in-Chief, MUHC about a 10-year plan to make surgery safer, and more precise, with faster recovery for patients and with better results: The Future of Surgery.
This project includes investments in robotics, artificial intelligence, computer-assisted surgery, and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathways, among others.
The Future of Surgery is part of Together Against Cancer, a unique collaboration between the Cedars Cancer Foundation and the Montreal General Hospital Foundation. Our goal is to raise $100 million to support transformative projects that will improve the experience, quality of life, and outcomes of cancer patients.
