Ford is doubling down on what it does best—SUVs and trucks. For 2025, the automaker is rolling out the fifth generation of its largest family SUV, the Expedition, with a host of exciting updates. The new model brings a rugged Tremor off-road variant, a massive new digital display, and a handy split tailgate borrowed from its luxury sibling, the Lincoln Navigator.
The 2025 Expedition retains the imposing size of its predecessor, offering two configurations. The standard model stretches 209.9 inches long, while the even larger Expedition Max extends to 221.7 inches. Despite its size, Ford’s EcoBoost 3.5-liter V-6 engine ensures it moves with power, delivering 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. For those who crave more performance, the Tremor and Platinum trims come with an upgraded engine pushing 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, all paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, the SUV sees a significant overhaul. The outdated tablet-style display is replaced by a modern, streamlined setup featuring a 24.0-inch panoramic digital screen above a 13.2-inch touchscreen. An adjustable center console slides back eight inches at the push of a button, adding practicality to the cabin.
In the rear, the split tailgate, capable of supporting up to 500 pounds, offers convenient seating and power outlets, perfect for outdoor adventures. Meanwhile, the Tremor trim stands out with its off-road capabilities, including 33-inch all-terrain tires and a beefed-up suspension.
Ford’s 2025 Expedition starts at $61,700, with orders opening on October 24, and it will hit dealerships by spring.
