I've been suffering and struggling with my weight loss program for a year now. It has been nothing short of Terrible, Horrible and Miserable. And so whenever I see any book that may shed some light into losing weight - I end up grabbing that book so that if there are any secrets I do not know off, I can at least use it to my advantage.
Kalli Purie's book 'Confession of a Serial Dieter' is a honest memoir of a woman who truly struggled to go through the pain of being over-weight, of having to go through 2 pregnancies and then to come out in the end from a 100kgs bulging endomorph to a 60kgs truly attractive woman.
What makes the book interesting is the number of diets mentioned (43), the issues and challenges that she went through while on dieting marathon and finally the moment of truth where she succeeds to reach her target weight. All these experiments are honestly and graphically penned together into this book. The book is only 225 pages in size but with plenty of interesting bits of wisdom, recipes and Aha! moments mentioned. It is as if you are going through a time machine with the author through her struggle to lose weight.
Moment of truth
I think by now it should be obvious that I enjoyed reading this book. Would I recommend you to buy it? Yes. The book by itself will not help you lose weight but it will inspire you to rethink, reflect and remember who you are and what you can become. The question you will ask yourself in the end is this - Are you prepared to go through the daily grind?
I think Kallie leave us with the thought-provoking question in the end - Do you really want it as badly as she did?
Overall Rating
Overall I loved the book for its honesty, candid approach and conversational style of writing. And I give this book a 7 out of 10.
