Mallacoota is located in East Gippsland in Victoria, Australia near the NSW Border. The rich offshore waters are home to a great variety of sportfish most noticeably very reliable grounds for yellowtail kingfish. From Gabo Island, the New Zealand Star Banks and Little Ram Head (and plenty in between) there are awesome reefs to be explored. Access to these waters is via the Mallacoota Bar (when open) or Bastion Point ramp. This aerial footage shot on a very low swell day shows the obvious launching issues. Whilst the ramp facility is very good, the access channel is narrow, prone to silting up, subject to swell and surge. Use with caution, if the locals are not going out, neither should you!
