Hello guys, here is a lick that is very inspired from the style and sound Vinnie Moore has when he is playing the legato style. I have always been fascinated with he´s legato sound and I did not really hit his sound very precise until I started to listen and transcribe a few of he´s solos, one that comes to mind first is Fear and Trepidation from the The Maze album, its just one incredible solo after the other. So here is a very short and sweet idea to create he´s legato sound. Probably the most obvious challenge would be the diminished pattern that I play almost at the end that require some stretching. Because even though you might be able to do the stretch the typical thing that happens when you try to play it is that you loose the quality of the notes if you really feel the stretch a lot in your fingers so one thing that will leverage this particular phrase is to just isolate that part and move it a bit up the neck to make it easier and then gradually move it back once it becomes more comfortable.
