Do you know what Second Life is? Have you seen Ready Player One? Google it if you have to because Facebook announced that is is going to launch Facebook Horizon.
What makes this virtual social environment different from its predecessors is that it uses Oculus virtual reality technology, and it is launching in closed beta in 2020.
To keep Facebook Horizon civil, Facebook details avatars called locals who appear to not only function as support but also police the virtual world.
Take a look at the trailer. It is eerily similar to the movie Ready Player One. Except the avatars do not have legs and the people in it seems to live in homes and apartments, not trailers.
You will need an oculus if you want to try out Facebook Horizon. One of those VR headsets costs at least 400 US Dollars.
