Bulgaria went head-to-head over a stray dog crossing the border!
So here’s what went down. The dog belonged to a Greek soldier stationed near the border. One
day, it took off, sprinting straight into Bulgarian territory! The soldier, in hot pursuit, crosses the
line too.
But that one step too far triggers chaos! A Bulgarian soldier spots him, shots are fired, and
suddenly Greece and Bulgaria are at each other’s throats over what became known as... the
War of the Stray Dog!
Things got serious fast. Greek forces stormed into Bulgarian territory, capturing towns! But
Bulgaria? They chose diplomacy, appealing to the League of Nations to calm things down.
The League steps in, and within days, the fighting stops. Greece has to pay for damages, and,
just like that, the War of the Stray Dog ends almost as quickly as it began. All that for one rogue
pup!
