With the recent news that the best everyday automatic dress watch under $500 from Seiko (SARB033) is being discontinued, I set myself the task of finding affordable alternatives. The first of which is an interesting piece from Frederique Constant, a Swiss brand that has accomplished some very impressive achievements in the last few decades, including their "smart watch" technology which is included in this watch I am reviewing today.
The Index Classic (Ref. FC-303LGS5B6) is their entry level automatic and is priced at almost the same as the aforementioned undisputed king. The styling is reminiscent of some classic Patek Philippe references like 5127 and the 5227. But how does it compare and what are the positives and negatives?
Today we find out with my first watch review of a Frederique Constant.
